Advent - Lessons and Carols - Christmas Eve - Christmas Day - Epiphany! Wow!

We are so blessed at St Paul - so many musicians came together to enhance and strengthen our worship experience.

I received the following comments:
This was a spiritual experience - the music was wonderful! 
This was the most beautiful Lessons and Carols I've every experienced! 
The Women's Ensemble that sang on the 15th of December sounded like angels - especially the Magnificat and Breath of Heaven! 
The Joyful Noise Ringers Handbell Choir was fantastic! Their music brought such life to worship!
Breath of Heaven by Bella Musica was so beautiful - it brought tears to my eyes. 
Every time I hear the Magnificat, I am inspired to pray. It was deeply moving.
The Magnificat for Lessons and Carols had me in tears. 
Where did you get that Anthem? When He Comes on that Day brought the service to a new point of life! 
The Messiah Chorus (And the Glory of the Lord) was so beautiful, it was a worship experience within itself! 
Christmas Eve was the best ever - the Celebrate and Sing Kids did an awesome job on their a capella piece! 
The Instrumentalists were great at Christmas Eve! (Both services) 
Christmas Eve with the Strings and the Masterwork Choruses - they were breathtaking! 
I am so thankful for the Cantorum - they sang beautifully on Christmas Day.

I am not sharing these to share compliments - although they are nice! I am sharing them so that whoever reads this blog sees that every little thing we do makes a difference! The time we spend with other people working on projects, music, discussion, serving, helping, praying - sharing and laughing - it has an end result.

I am so very thankful to be walking with the people of the Aiken Community & St Paul to provide a Spiritually Loving Environment for God's Word to be proclaimed and God's Love to be shared.

We celebrate Epiphany this week. Share the light that God has given you - no matter if you can't see where it will go, or how it will help - as a follower of Christ - as a disciple - we are called to share it. With many of us doing that - God does wondrous things!

I pray blessings for our community in this Epiphany Season and onward into 2020!
The Choirs and Ensembles are resuming and I will work on renewing this blog at least once a month to share what we are working on. Let's hold each other and our world in prayer. Happy New Year!

More steps forward! Music increases inside our Worship Spaces!

 More steps forward! I know it seems like its taking forever, but we have been care-filled as we've stepped forward in music at St  Paul Lutheran Church during the pandemic. In June, the Choirs started singing indoors in small groups, masked. As we followed our church leadership's guidelines, at the end of June, we were able to sing unmasked for those who have been vaccinated.  Its now July, and we are praying for those who are still struggling with Covid-19 and beginning to plan more and more for Music in Worship. Stay tuned here for information on instrumentalists and other special music in worship at St Paul!

 It's October!  Thanks to all who attended our first Celebration Concert on Sunday, Sept. 24th. You helped us kick off our year of celebration and there will be more concerts to come. The next one is Friday, November 3rd - more information on that will be available soon. This week, our 8:30 and 11:00 Choirs are singing "I Am His Child" - as we celebrate Consecration Sunday, a day when we turn in our Estimate of Giving cards - a time to discern how each of us can support mission and ministry at and through St Paul Lutheran Church. And this includes music and worship as well. This Moses Hogan anthem reminds us that we are children of God, and how thankful we are for that.  At 9:45 worship, Justin Hadden will lead us in an opening song of celebration - "Lord, I Lift Your Name on High" - where we remember that God suffered, died, was resurrected and ascended for us in Jesus Christ - truly human and truly God at the same time. Christmas and Epiphany

 Christmas - it's always beautiful, and this year was lovely. We now step into the time of Epiphany, when we remember how the sages or "wise men" from the East followed the star to find the baby Jesus, the Morning Star, sent by God to save us all. The season of Epiphany is short this year - we will finish up on Februay 11th with the day of Transfiguration, and head into Lent on February 14th - Ash Wednesday.  But the music will flow throughout - as we celebrate the ministry of Jesus, of how he did and still does connect with humanity - how he influences our lives, and brings us to a place of connection - where we know we can find peace, because of Jesus Christ. Our music will reflect some of that during the next 6 weeks. On the 21st, both choirs will sing "Come Follow Me" by John Leavitt, with Alea Atkinson playing the instrumental part.
